A member of Memramcook council has stepped down for personal reasons.
A special meeting was held on Tuesday to accept the resignation of Councillor Carole Duguay.
“Since her election in 2021, Councillor Duguay has represented the interests of Memramcook residents with passion, integrity and care. Her presence on the council has played a key role in the development of many important initiatives that contribute to the vitality of the municipality,” Mayor Maxime Bourgeois said in a news release.
“Through her thoughtful approach, attentive listening and constant concern for improving the quality of life of the Memramcook community, Councillor Duguay leaves a lasting imprint that will continue to benefit the entire community.”
Bourgeois adds that Duguay’s presence on Council has played a key role in the development of many important initiatives in the village.
A byelection will be held to fill the vacancy. No date has been set yet by Elections NB.
