New Year’s Eve is nearly upon us and that means some holiday closures and changes in hours to be aware of.
Many businesses will be closing early on Tuesday so employees have the chance to ring in the new year.
All malls, big-box stores and most grocery stores will be closed for New Year’s Day on Wednesday.
Some drug stores and smaller grocery stores will be open, although their hours may vary.
NB Liquor and Cannabis NB stores will be closed, but agency liquor outlets may be open.
Banks, post offices and all government offices will also be closed and there will be no mail delivery.
Codiac Transpo will offer free service on New Year’s Eve from 5:30 p.m. until 2 a.m. on the following routes: 16 Hennessey, 50 Red Line, 51 Green Line, 60 Bessborough, 62 Hildegard, 64 Hospitals, 81 Riverview, 93 Champlain, 94 Centrale and 95 Amirault.
Due to the closure of Main Street from Bonaccord to Cameron streets, the buses servicing 1111 and 1110 Main will be relocating to St. George Boulevard as of 5 a.m. Riders will be required to walk up to St. George Boulevard (between Weldon and Highfield streets) to board the bus.
The following routes will stop early on New Year’s Eve:
- 61 Elmwood: Bus leaving Champlain Place at 5:47 p.m. will terminate at Champlain Place at 6:26 p.m.
- 63 Lewisville: Bus leaving Champlain Place at 6 p.m. will terminate at Champlain Place at 6:35 p.m.
- 65 Killam: Bus leaving North Plaza at 5:45 p.m. will terminate at North Plaza at 6:15 p.m.
- 66 Caledonia: Bus leaving St. George South at 5:15 p.m. will terminate at St. George South at 6:25 p.m.
- 67 Edinburgh: Bus leaving St. George South at 5:40 p.m. will terminate at St. George South at 6:10 p.m.
- 68 Salisbury: Bus leaving St. George South at 6:10 p.m. will terminate at St. George South at 6:40 p.m.
- 85 Riverview Connector: Bus leaving Riverview Place at 5:08 p.m. will terminate at Riverview Place 6:08 p.m.
- 86 Pinewood: Bus leaving St. George South at 5:50 p.m. will terminate at St. George South at 6:25 p.m.
Codiac Transpo will not be operating on New Year’s Day and will resume normal service on Thursday, Jan. 2.
New Year’s Day waste collection in Moncton will be postponed to Saturday, Jan. 4.
