RCMP were out from October 10 to 12 in southeastern New Brunswick watching for speeders, distracted drivers and proper seatbelt use.
During this recent traffic enforcement, a total of 224 traffic violations under the New Brunswick Motor Vehicle Act were issued and 13 vehicles were towed.
One person was picked up on an arrest warrant, while two others were brought in for impaired driving.
A total of 145 speeding tickets were issued.
Of the speeding tickets issued, 26 were for speeding over 25 km/h over the posted speed limit, one for speeding over 50 km/h over the posted speed limit, and one for speeding in a school zone by more than 25 km/h over the posted speed limit. The vehicle speeding over 50km/h of the posted speed limit was towed and impounded for seven days.
Nineteen tickets were handed out to motorists who were not wearing a seatbelt, 20 for expired vehicle registrations and 10 tickets for using a hand operation device while driving.
The RCMP’s Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit (TTEU) conducts regular, targeted traffic enforcement on roadways throughout the province with the goals of improving road safety, educating motorists about traffic laws, and reducing serious injury and fatal collisions.
