An opportunity of a lifetime for 18 Codiac Soccer Club players.
They’ll travel to Portugal and Spain from October 24 to November 1.
The players will compete at the Lisbon Youth Cup and then have the chance to train with a professional European soccer Academy.
It’s the first time the Club has ventured out on a trip like this.
The Club Executive Director says this is great exposure for the Club and the players.
“The growth of soccer in the area and we’ve seen how our players are improving technically and we just want to give them something different. A little exposure and a different experience,” Roy Chineh says.
“The training with this professional academy is also an opportunity for them to be assessed and scouted. Potentially offered a spot at one of these academies. We’ve seen one of our players got offered a spot in Germany earlier this year.”
“Our technical director will also be travelling with the team. While there, he will have the opportunity to meet with the academy directors and coaches and learn some of their techniques and training. He will be able to bring that back here to help with the player’s development and growth,” Chineh adds.
Funds are needed to help send the players to Portugal and Spain. If you would like to donate, contact the Codiac Soccer Club.
