A crash in Havelock has left a 28-year-old Sainte-Marie-de-Kent man dead.
RCMP say at around 8 pm on Wednesday, a tractor-trailer left the eastbound lanes of Highway 2, crashed into the trees and then caught fire.
The driver died at the scene from his injuries.
Havelock Fire Captain Brent Dunfield says when they arrived they found the truck’s cab fully engulfed and the trailer on its side.
Fire Departments from Petitcodiac, Coles Island and Salisbury were called in to assist.
Dunfield says it was a tough one to fight, as the lumber fueled the flames.
Firefighters were on the scene until around 4 am Thursday.
Dunfield says the truck is a total loss.
Members of Ambulance New Brunswick and the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure also attended the scene.
An autopsy will be done to determine the exact cause of death.
