An RCMP Town Hall is being planned for next month in Riverview.
This comes after concerns about police presence and activity in the community.
“We did have a conversation with Ben and John from the RCMP who have done similar sessions in other parts of Moncton in the past. One of the suggestions was that maybe we could organize a Town Hall session where the Superintendent can give an overview of how they operate, and what some of the current issues going on in the community and they would have a Q & A opportunity. He has agreed to do this for us and will set this up,” says Colin Smith, Chief Administrative Officer in Riverview.
Mayor Andrew Leblanc says this will help facilitate more dialogue with RCMP and the public.
“To engage the public more, to help with education on how the RCMP is conducting some investigations and also to get feedback on things they would like to see. This is also beneficial for the Town council, so we’re looking forward to moving this forward,” Leblanc adds.
Town Councillors agreed this is a great idea.
A decision on a meeting date is expected to be made soon.
