A sweet treat from Riverview, ended up on Billy Idol’s Instagram story when he performed in Moncton last week.
Owner of Buttercup Cookies Kara Beaumont says she has prepared baked goods for the Avenir Centre in the past, but when she heard Billy Idol was coming she whipped up personalized treats for the artist and they ended up in his dressing room.
“I do a few events for the Avenir Centre when they have different artists come in for different shows. Often, they’ll get me to make cookies for the promotional team.”
Beaumont said she would’ve done anything for Idol to get a picture with her cookies, and her wish came true.
“Right before the concert, I got a phone call and thought, this is weird. I looked and oh my gosh, there was a message saying, look at your Instagram feed now. I look, and oh my gosh, Billy took a picture. I definitely didn’t expect him to post it on Instagram,” Beaumont told our newsroom.
With Buttercup Cookies, the sweet treats are always customized. Beaumont created a dozen personalized cookies for Idol that included one with his face on it, his Hollywood Walk of Fame star, his cross safety pin jacket, logos from his album covers and a microphone with his signature.
“It was pretty exciting for me. I lost my mind for a little bit.”
Unfortunately, Beaumont wasn’t able to attend the concert on August 21, but she says the post on Instagram certainly helped.
“The morning after it happened, I turned on Facebook, and that picture was everywhere, from all my friends to the local businesses, to the town of Riverview, with comments to look at our local girl. I feel so loved. It’s my five minutes of fame,” Beaumont expressed.
