It’s $1 million for a Saint John man who played Lotto 6/49.
Stuart Melvin picked up a few tickets at Shawn’s Variety store last month.
He decided to have them scanned during a recent trip to the grocery store.
He discovered he won the Gold Ball draw prize in the July 27, 2024 draw.
“I thought I had won $2 on TAG and never thought more about it,” Melvin said. “I was just
looking at the regular numbers, Atlantic 49 and 6/49. I didn’t think to check the other number
on the ticket.”
Melvin shared the news with his sister first, but she thought her brother was pranking her.
“It doesn’t feel real at all,” Melvin said. “I’m just going to sit back now and relax a little while.”
Melvin plans to eventually purchase a new home with his prize money and said much of what is
left will be going to charity.
He is the fourth New Brunswicker to claim a $1 million or more prize on Lotto 6/49 this year.
