Did you decide to eat out this past weekend with the family?
You may have noticed increased prices at your favourite restaurant.
Atlantic Vice-President for Restaurants Canada, Jordi Morgan, says skyrocketing grocery prices are having an impact.
“What happens is that the venue costs go up. When you see inflation around food, that’s generally where it’s going to land, it’s going to land on the menus and restaurants, and sometimes businesses are doing things to reduce costs internally by providing efficiencies,” Morgan says.
“I mean, there’s a whole complex line of things that happen when you see these costs rise because you have to adjust to them. No magic pot of money just shows up.”
He adds that most people will recognize that they may see menu prices go up or they may see fewer things on the menu.
“That’s all part of adjusting to these higher food costs because we’ve seen skyrocketing inflation over the last year or so,” Morgan adds.
