Local and nationally acclaimed mountain bikers will be at Dieppe’s Rotary St-Anselme Park this weekend.
Organizer Luc Arseneau anticipates around 500 competitors will compete at the 4th Mountain Bike Canada Cup.
“We have what we call the short track races on Saturday, we have the races for more of the local people and of all ages, and on Sunday we go back to our top riders,” said Arseneau.
Arseneau also said the event is lined up with free family activities throughout the weekend of competitions.
This includes a free concert featuring Phil Athanase on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Then on Saturday at 10 a.m., there will be a family disco bike ride with prizes to be won for the most beautifully decorated bike.
Later in the day, a treasure hunt, bike rodeo for youngsters, a bike balancing contest, tandem bike tours, and tune-up workshops with La Bikery are planned.
Officials have reserved certain park trails for competitions that are marked with barricades.
