Thousands will flock to Shediac later this week for an annual festival that has been around for 75 years.
Opening day for the Shediac Lobster Festival is Friday and it will run until July 14 this year.
Pascal Haché, president of the festival, said they have some big musical acts lined up.
“Our site physically has changed, it’s almost doubled in size,” Hache said in a recent interview.
“We had to get a bigger tent because we managed to get Salebarbes, which is one of the biggest francophone bands right now in Canada that celebrates Acadian-Cajun music.”
Salebarbes will headline two shows at the festival on July 12 and 13.
Other performers include Les Hay Babies, Signal Hill, The Mellotones, Melanie Morgan, Hert LeBlanc, and T’Monde.
Two of the festival’s popular events — Ales & Tails and Corks & Claws — return again this year.
The famous La Grande Table is also back, where up to 1,000 people will gather around a gigantic, long communal table for a lobster dinner.
Haché said it takes a lot of people to pull this event together each and every year.
“We couldn’t do it without our volunteers. We have so many people involved,” he said.
“We’re lucky we have so many volunteers throughout the years to build the festival up to what it is today and we’re very happy and pleased to show what we can do for the 75th.”
