Warnings about a new scam in southeastern New Brunswick.
RCMP say callers are pretending to be from a utility service provider.
They warn that your power is about to be disconnected due to late payments and demand immediate payment by electronic transfer to avoid losing service.
“These scammers use a variety of pressure tactics to get people to panic,” said Corporal Hans Ouellette.
“Please be cautious about providing any financial or personal details over the phone before confirming that it is a legitimate request from an authorized entity. Report any suspicious requests to your local detachment”.
