Codiac Regional RCMP’s long-delayed satellite office at 795 Main Street in Moncton is now expected to open in the fall.
In an update to city council this week, Superintendent Ben Jolette said originally the community policing unit was moving in to the second office but there will be room for more.
“We’re still debating about which units or teams that we’re going to put there and whether there is going to be front counter service,” noted Jolette.
“At first glance, it was community policing. But we have enough room for some other things too and that’s what we’re talking about now.”

The Codiac Regional Policing Authority awarded a $663,000 contract to Avant Garde Construction of Riverview to create a second office at 795 Main Street, next to Oak Lane.
The location is just a few blocks away from headquarters at 520 Main Street as construction continues on a new $56 million police station on Albert Street.
