The president and CEO of the Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport (YQM) said there are constant discussions about trying to secure a direct flight to the Northeastern United States.
Courtney Burns said she and her team are continuing to work with their airline partners.
“What we’re hearing when we speak with them is that you really need to see some evidence that there’s support from your business community. Of course the general public are considered. But when you think of Boston or New York, you want to see a daily frequency from a business traveller perspective,” noted Burns.
“If we can start to show that there’s a commitment and an interest from our business community, that will help us with the business case to get those airlines to take that risk to try an untested route and see if it can be successful.”
YQM previously had a direct flight to the New York City metro area.
Continental Airlines which later merged with United Airlines offered daily service from YQM to Newark, New Jersey until it ended in 2014.
