Codiac RCMP recently arrested two so-called travelling criminals on the same day – April 12.
In a presentation to city council this week, Superintendent Ben Jolette noted how two individuals from out-of-province preyed upon businesses in the region and both had previously committed crimes in other provinces.
In one case, Jolette said a 46-year-old woman from Ontario allegedly targeted various financial institutions in Greater Moncton.
“Using multiple I.D.’s, she was trying to get money, trying to get credit and open bank accounts.”
In another case, Jolette said officers tracked down a 21-year-old man from Ontario at a local hotel who had been purportedly targeting pharmacies.
“His M.O. (method of operation) was fictitious prescriptions at multiple pharmacies in the Greater Moncton area.”
Jolette said both individuals were remanded into custody.
