Defence Minister Anita Anand paid a surprise visit to Ukraine on Wednesday where she made an announcement to support the country’s fight against Russia’s invasion.
In a media briefing from Kyiv, Anand said Canada will donate 200 armoured vehicles.
“There is a price to helping Ukraine, which includes the weapons, the vehicles and the ammunition that we have provided,” she noted.
“The cost of doing nothing is far greater. What happens here in Ukraine will determine the kind of world in which our children grow up.”
The armoured vehicles are being purchased from Mississauga, Ontario-based Roshel with a $90 million price tag.
