We are currently seeking a Journeyperson Electrican to join our Maintenance Team at our Amherst Evaporation Plant located in Amherst, Nova Scotia. This is not a fly in / fly out position.
The Amherst Plant is located in a fully established community of 10,000, situated on the Nova Scotia/New Brunswick border on the northeast end of the Cumberland Basin, an arm of the Bay of Fundy. Amherst is two hours from Halifax and less than an hour’s drive from Moncton, NB. The plant employs 50 and has an annual capacity of 127,000 tons of food grade and water-softening salt, serving customers throughout the Maritimes, Quebec and the Eastern United States.

Job Description
This position, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, will be responsible for the; maintenance, repair and installation work of plant infrastructure. The positions will also be responsible for manning the various fixed plant services on site.
How will you contribute to the team?
- Maintenance of plant electrical equipment
- Reliability improvement of plant electrical equipment
- Working on the electrical component of various projects as required
- Maintenance of electrical distribution equipment and troubleshooting of electrical distribution and mining equipment
- Troubleshooting and maintaining the plant control network
- Required to work on portable sub-station relocation as well as with HV and MV cabling splicing.
Qualifications
You bring to the role:
- High School Diploma, coupled with an Industrial Electrician License.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Experience as an Electrician in the mining industry, or a similar heavy industrial environment.
- Experience on PLC systems.
- Experience on VFD & Electronic Soft Start Systems.
- Experience in Medium and High Voltage Systems.
- Red Seal Certified preferred or working towards obtaining a red seal instrumentation journeyperson for which company supports under apprentice program
