An 11-year-old boy has died after being struck in the face by a kick scooter in Shippagan.
Lamèque RCMP were called to a report of an assault with a weapon outside a home in Shippagan on Thursday.
Officers found an 11-year-old boy with serious, life-threatening injuries when they arrived on scene.
He was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries on Saturday.
Mounties arrested a 15-year-old boy on Monday in connection with the investigation.
He was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Bathurst Provincial Court on January 26.
Police did not say if charges will be laid.
