While we often hope for an early spring in New Brunswick, it seldom happens and The Weather Network believes this year will be no exception.
In its spring forecast covering March, April and May, meteorologist Tyler Hamilton expects average temperatures for our region with lots of battles between cold and warm air.
“So really take advantage of those surges of warmth because they’ll be quite offset by a cold anomaly lurking up towards northern Quebec and northern sections of Labrador.”
Following a trend from winter, Hamilton says precipitation will likely be higher than normal thanks to a couple of factors.
“A strong Bermuda High is increasing the circulation and warmer than normal sea surface temperatures are being recorded in the Gulf Stream and just south of the Maritime Provinces.”
In terms of possible spring flooding, Hamilton says the province lost some of its prolific snowpack recently which will hopefully diminish the flood threat along the St. John River.
