A local restaurant is teaming up with Harvest House House Atlantic, to provide the homeless and others with a traditional Christmas dinner.
Owner of Euston Park Social Susan Cormier says their team of cooks, chefs and servers will be taking over the shelter kitchen on Saturday morning.
They’ll be preparing a meal made up of turkey, potatoes, stuffing, gravy and vegetables for around 200 people, “Harvest House actually approached us and asked if we would like to partner with them to do this. We thought it would be a great opportunity for us to be able to utilize our team skills and be able to give back to the community by creating this dinner for them.”
Harvest House Atlantic Executive Director Marc Belliveau says, “Christmas dinner is more than a meal to our guests. Many of them are without family or close community ties for many reasons at this time of year. This kind of partnership between a downtown local business and a downtown shelter inspires hope that the community can work together to find ways to address urgent social needs.”
“Our community supports us and all of our businesses throughout the year and we really want to be able to give back. It is a difficult time for restaurants right now, so we need to be a little bit creative right now on how we give back and this is a perfect opportunity for us,” Cormier says.
She adds, the downtown core of Moncton is so critical, and it is important to them to be a part of community and helping with growth and skill development
