Marine conservation groups are tracking a pair of entangled North Atlantic Right Whales in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
The Campobello Whale Rescue Team, with the help of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the New England Aquarium, are looking to free the whales.
They were able to remove some rope Thursday from a whale named Snow Cone. They say Snow Cone seems to be in good condition, despite the entanglement, and they’re planning to remove more if possible.
They tagged another whale Tuesday.
They say the 5-year-old bull appears badly injured, so they’re planning to attempt a disentanglement in the coming days.
