McSweeney’s Dinner Theatre is looking for entertainers and musicians for their upcoming production.
“The Lone Wolves” will run from September until around mid January or February.
Casting Director Dave Cote says no experience is necessary. Applicants just have to be comfortable being on stage, “If you send us an audition, a line read or some original music, a cover song or you playing an instrument and singing and we like it, we’ll hire you. It doesn’t have to be anything special, you just need to be entertaining.”
He says working in dinner theatre has been a first step for many staff, “A lot of people go on to do shows at Capitol Theatre, in the immediate area, or you can go to PEI and do dinner theatre there. You can also do street theatre.”
Rehearsals start at the beginning of September,
“The current show is running until September 4th, and then a few days later we start our rehearsal period which take about two to two and half weeks, then we start the show from there,” Cote says.
He adds that if you aren’t cast for this show, there is always a chance of a role in a future production.
The show runs until January or mid-February, depending on how popular it is.
“It’s a great time to work at McSweeney’s because this is when all of the office events will happen. You can make a living, even though it’s a part time job, because you’ll make your wage plus tips,” Cote says.
