A grade 12 student at JMA Armstrong School in Salisbury is hoping to raise awareness of the school parking lot, which he says is covered in potholes.
Ryan Killam has created a YouTube video that describes the school lot as an embarrassment.
He adds the District spends around $10 thousand for gravel, resurfacing and maintenance each year, but the holes return after the first rainfall, “Each year they fill up the potholes once or twice a year, just with gravel and it just doesn’t help the issue.”
Killam says this issue isn’t a new one, and it has been a problem for up to 25 years.
“I’m just hoping that if I bring up the awareness, they’ll realize this is a large issue and maybe they should just fix the parking lot.”
He is hoping his video will draw attention from the district and the province in the hopes proper repairs will be done.
“I have friends and family as well as teachers at the school. People ask me why I am so passionate about getting it fixed, when I won’t be using it anymore after I graduate. I just want the issue to be somewhat fixed for the future generation. Someday I would like for my children to attend the school as well,” Killam says.
