Motorists have reported an increase in the number of deer sightings recently.
Spokesperson for the Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development Nick Brown told us that the melting snow allows for an increased mobility for the animals.
He adds they are coming out of the woods as they search for available food.
Brown says, “The 2021 winter was milder than average across the province and has allowed for increased deer numbers. ”
His advice is to be cautious and slow down, especially at night, in areas where deer sightings are common.
