The Boeing 737 Max has returned to the skies two years after a pair of accidents grounded the commercial plane.
An American Airlines flight from Miami to New York was carried out by a 737 Max, its first flight since it was grounded in March 2019 shortly after an Ethiopian Airlines flight crashed killing everyone on board.
American will use the passenger plane for a pair of daily trips from Miami, and is looking to expand to up 36 trips in the new year.
The 737 Max grounding occurred after high-profile accidents in Ethiopia and Indonesia occurred within six months, killing 364 people.
Boeing later announced a malfunctioning flight control system led to the crashes.
The Federal Avaiation Administration cleared the 737 Max to return to the skies in November, meaning it can now operate in the United States.
