One of the largest outdoor Remembrance Day ceremonies in Greater Moncton is usually held at the Cenotaph in Sunny Brae.
Royal Canadian Legion branch 54 will be holding a much smaller service this year due to pandemic restrictions.
Sunny Brae Legion first vice-president Jim Rodgers says a noteworthy part of the annual event is not able to go ahead.
“There will be no veterans parade this year (from the Legion to the Cenotaph). Also, the Canadian Armed Forces will not be parading.”
Rodgers says the crosses and wreaths will all be pre-arranged before the ceremony and only Legion members will be participating.
No trumpeter or pipes and drums will be present either.
Typically the outdoor ceremony in Sunny Brae attracts about 1,000 people.
But Rodgers adds that kind of crowd is not permitted right now.
The public is being discouraged from attending due to physical distancing concerns.
