The City of Dieppe issued over 56o building permits last year, valued at a total of $96.9 million, surpassing the former record of just over $90 million set in 2016.
The municipality approved 117 permits for commercial, industrial and institutional projects, and nearly 450 permits for residential projects representing.
Dieppe Mayor Yvon Lapierre says major projects included expansions at Irving Tissue Inc., the Canada Post sorting centre as well as various projects at CF Champlain.
The building permit for the largest project in the history of the City of Dieppe, the UNIplex, a major hub for private investment, was also issued in 2019.
Lapierre says The residential sector also posted strong growth with the addition of over 300 new housing units.
He says investing in our infrastructure will continue to make Dieppe the ideal place to do business, raise a family or spend a vacation.
Louis Godbout, executive director of Expansion Dieppe, applauded the level of investment coming from the private sector.
He says the new record clearly shows that private investors have confidence in the community and that Dieppe’s socioeconomic environment is thriving.
