A Moncton business owner says he’s frustrated and concerned about what he’s seeing at city hall which is why he’s running for mayor.
Chad Peters grew up in Sunny Brae, now lives in Lewisville and has been an active community volunteer.
During an official launch on Tuesday, Peters said residents are frustrated by the growing amount of crime in the city and the increasing drug problem.
“People are concerned about the growing number of homeless in our community and access to affordable housing. People are concerned about rising costs in our community.”
Peters thinks residents are also concerned about the waste and inefficiencies at city hall and the fact that rules are not universally applied.
“I’m frustrated that we keep hearing a lot about the right things coming out of city hall but we don’t see any actions that actually resolve the issues.”
Peters owns the communications firm Lynnwood Strategies.
He previously worked for SWN Resources Canada, an oil and gas company which was conducting exploration in New Brunswick.
Peters was a Progressive Conservative candidate in a 2007 provincial byelection in Moncton East to replace Bernard Lord although the seat was won by Liberal Chris Collins.
New Brunswick municipal elections will be held on May 11.
