Moncton firefighters were called to the Moncton Hospital this afternoon after reports of a diesel spill.
Shortly after 2pm, crews responded after diesel had leaked into the ground from one of the large fuel tanks at the hospital.
City of Moncton spokesperson Isabelle LeBlanc says the spill was contained and is being cleaned up.
She says firefighters, public works crews, officials from the Department of Health and the Department of the Environment were also on-site to conduct an inspection.
She adds diesel fuel possibly got into the sewer system and as a result nearby residents or businesses could experience some smells of diesel.
