The John Howard Society of Southeastern New Brunswick and Visions United Church are holding another information session about their joint project called “Community Hub”.
The affordable housing complex on Joyce Avenue in Moncton will feature 20 apartments for single adult men along with community and office space.
John Howard Society spokesperson Joanne Murray says the need for housing is great as we’ve seen with the homeless living in tent cities this summer.
“Those are people who would be best served by a housing-first approach. Perhaps an organization like Salvus Clinic or also the YWCA has units for women that need housing first,” she notes.
Murray says their new complex would be for men who have been stable for some time and not necessarily coming directly out of homelessness.
This project will be in addition to the John Howard Society’s existing 10 affordable apartments on Flanders Court.
A “Community Hub” public information session is being held tonight at 6:30 at the Father Patrice LeBlanc Centre on Murphy Avenue.
