What does the future hold for the sale of cannabis in New Brunswick?
We’re expected to learn more on Thursday afternoon when the Higgs government holds a news conference in Fredericton.
On the government website, the province says it will be announcing a decision on the retail sale of recreational cannabis.
Finance minister Ernie Steeves will be answering questions from the media after a briefing.
Steeves has said that Cannabis NB needs a more profitable business plan.
He has expressed some optimism about the upcoming sale of cannabis edibles.
Cannabis NB, with 20 retail stores provincewide, has been struggling with a number of issues such as supply problems since marijuana legalization in October 2018.
The Crown corporation has also been losing money and it recently laid off eight managers following other staffing cuts earlier this year.
