An Upper Coverdale man is no longer facing a first degree murder charge.
Fifty-one-year-old Donald Kyle appeared in Moncton provincial court on Friday where the Crown withdrew the charge and laid a manslaughter charge instead.
Kyle has been released from custody on strict conditions and is under house arrest.
He is scheduled to return to court on November 29 to elect trial by judge or jury.
On Thanksgiving Sunday (October 13), RCMP were called to a disturbance at an Osprey Road home where 19-year-old Evan Straight was found suffering from a gunshot wound.
Straight was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries.
