Officials with the tri-communities say an extension is needed on work to inspect both transmission lines from the water treatment plant.
As a result, residents of Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview may occasionally notice discoloured water up until next Friday, September 27th.
The water discolouration is caused by manganese buildup on the transmission lines.
Some residents have expressed concern about black sediment found in the water.
But Dr. Yves Leger, the regional medical health officer, says there are no health risks and the drinking water meets all guidelines.
Dr. Leger adds that any black sediment is expected given the nature of the work.
However, officials recommend not doing laundry during discolouration as it may stain clothes.
