The manager of the Shediac Bay Yacht Club says no one can remember a storm more vicious than Dorian.
A cleanup is underway at the marina with a crane lifting some boats out of the water while others sustained little damage.
The docks were also damaged by the hurricane-force winds and powerful storm surge on Saturday night.
Gerry O’Brien says it will take a few days to get things cleaned up.
“We’ve got about 40 boats that were all clustered together… and we have about 20 boats that were laying on the rocks beside the walls on which the storm surge brought up,” he says.
O’Brien says yacht club members were told early last week about the possibility of a tropical storm coming but at that time it was expected to be downgraded.
He figures Dorian was a once in a hundred years storm.
Meantime, the nearby Pointe-de-Chene Yacht Club fared much better with no major damage reported and just scratches on some boats.
