More than $8 million in joint federal-provincial funding has been announced through the Atlantic Fisheries Fund.
Overall, 21 lobster and oyster projects in the region will benefit.
The largest recipient is the provincial Regional Development Corporation with $3 million to help support commercial oyster producers.
The Homarus Eco-Centre in Pointe-de-Chene will receive $2 million to create a new marine lab.
Acadian Hatchery Inc. will also get money to help set up a new oyster hatchery in Cocagne.
The Atlantic Fisheries Fund was set up in 2017 for a seven year term and accepts applications from the commercial fisheries and aquaculture industry and related sectors.
