A highly destructive beetle has been found in the Moncton area according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
The presence of the emerald ash borer has been confirmed and affected property owners have been notified.
CFIA officials say movement of all ash material such as logs, branches, woodchips and firewood from the affected site is restricted.
Surveys are being conducted to determine whether the pest has become established in the area.
The emerald ash borer poses no threat to human health.
But the beetle is destructive and has killed millions of ash trees throughout Canada and the United States.
