Riverview Town Council has given its approval to expropriate a piece of land for a future roundabout.
The first roundabout in Riverview is slated for Pine Glen Road at Pinewood Road.
Town CAO Colin Smith says ten square metres of land is sought at the southeast corner of the intersection where an apartment building is located.
“It’s a very tiny piece that is required on the apartment side. We tried to negotiate with the owner of that facility. There was some reluctance because of personal opposition to the concept of the roundabout,” he notes.
Smith says he hopes a deal can be reached before the expropriation process begins.
A piece of land at the northwest corner of the intersection has already been acquired through an agreement reached with the owner.
