Many hockey fans are interested in getting tickets to the Kraft Hockeyville game at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre in Bathurst.
Leading up to the NHL pre-season event, activities planned include parades, autograph signings and skates with NHL and minor hockey players.
Sarah Mullin, with the organizing committee in Renous, says they are working on how complimentary tickets will be distributed to the September 18th game.
“We will be looking at all minor hockey associations. That’s why I believe this venue was chosen because of the large capacity that it can accommodate. Of course, we’re hoping to get as many children and minor hockey… and hockey fans to the game,” she says.
More details on tickets are expected soon.
Since Renous was the 2019 Kraft Hockeyville winning community but didn’t have a large venue, organizers conducted a search and visited several arenas in the region.
Mullin says Bathurst was chosen for several reasons including safety, security and seating capacity.
Meantime, the provincial and federal governments have announced a combined investment of $340,000 for renovations to the Tom Donovan Arena in Renous.
The upgrades will include a new ice-making plant, fixing the arena’s refrigeration unit, new dressing rooms and showers along with a new scoreboard and clock.
Since Renous was this year’s winning community, Kraft Hockeyville is also providing $250,000 and $94,000 will come from the local recreation council.
