About 50 tenants were evacuated from an apartment building in Miramichi over the weekend after a fire in one of the units.
No one was hurt at the Skyway Lodge in the Curtis Park area of Miramichi.
The Canadian Red Cross had to set up an emergency shelter on Saturday night since hotel rooms were scarce due to the annual Miramichi Irish Festival.
The Rodd Hotel offered its conference rooms as a temporary shelter until enough hotel rooms could be arranged last night.
Some tenants chose to stay with friends or relatives.
The Red Cross says the landlord is expected to meet with a contractor and the Fire Marshal today about repairs and when tenants can move back in.
The three-storey apartment building is next to a similar building that has been vacant since mid-June when the Fire Marshal shut it down over safety concerns during renovations.
