An over abundance of kittens is putting a strain on the resources at the Greater Moncton SPCA.
Executive Director Dave Rogers recently told us they have around 10 litters of kittens at the shelter currently and around seven more litters in foster care.
He expects more will be dropped off in the coming weeks, “We will probably be another month in this kind of a situation where we have a lot of kittens and the it will taper and start again in September October. Then it will happen for another month or so.”
Rogers says kittens require a mix of milk and wet cat food, and financial donations are beneficial.
“It put a huge demand on our resources. Our staffing resources, our food, our litter. We are up to 200 pounds of litter a day here, and $200 worth of kitten food a day,” Rogers says.
