An anonymous email was received last Thursday by someone who claimed they knew about the incident and had contacted the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
Last Friday, Moncton Headstart formally reported the incident to the same provincial department.
Two employees were then escorted from the building and were suspended with pay.
Staff were later advised about the incident but were told not to speak publicly for confidentiality reasons and parents impacted were also notified.
Based on what has been learned over the past few days, Peters says Moncton Headstart terminated the two employees who had been suspended with pay and terminated two other employees related to the incident.
Three teachers and one aide were terminated.
RCMP are not involved in the investigation.
Peters adds Moncton Headstart can’t provide further details since the internal investigation is ongoing.
