The Greater Moncton International Airport is trying to maintain a competitive edge in the Maritimes which isn’t easy given the number of major airports in the region.
President/CEO Bernard LeBlanc says Moncton is going to head-to-head with the Halifax Stanfield Airport.
“The Halifax Airport recently got a subsidy from the Nova Scotia government but Moncton isn’t receiving funding from its provincial government. Although we could ask, it may have other priorities,” he notes.
LeBlanc says some changes being made should help the Moncton Airport stay on top of its game.
The “Destinations Lounge” will soon be converted from the groundside of the airport to the airside.
He says this will be a benefit for passengers especially those who may face travel delays.
The parking lot is now automated (no attendant at the exit gate) and the air terminal has been retrofitted with LED lighting.
He adds measures like these have helped reduce costs which means passengers won’t have to pay more in fees.
