A public hearing for a controversial parking lot proposal in downtown Moncton has been delayed.
The hearing has now been rescheduled for May 21 at Moncton City Hall.
The developers, Slate Office REIT, asked for the postponement since they were unable to appear before Moncton City Council this week.
Slate owns the Blue Cross Building and wants to create 365 new parking spaces on Record Street at the former Co-Op building site.
Since the city has been trying to reduce surface parking in recent years, some councillors are upset.
Demonstrators at a recent climate change protest at City Hall also denounced the proposal noting how it would likely bring even more vehicles into the downtown core.
