A larger passenger aircraft has returned to the Greater Moncton International Airport just ahead of the busy summer travel season.
A water cannon salute greeted the Air Canada Rouge Airbus A319 from Toronto Pearson which can carry 136 passengers.
Rouge spokesperson Nikolas Kosmas says the Toronto to Moncton flight will operate three times daily and reduce travel time by about 40 minutes compared to the Bombardier Q400.
“Obviously it’s a larger aircraft that has two cabin configurations… we have Wi-Fi capability… and more importantly we have our crew which always makes the difference,” he notes.
Air Canada Rouge will be using an even larger aircraft this summer to keep up with the expected demand – the Airbus A320 which has 162 seats.
The expanded service will operate between June 20th and October 26th.
