The second annual Spelling Bee to benefit the Moncton Regional Learning Council will be held next month.
Spokesperson Valarie Higgins says this event is about creating awareness about the organization and the service they offer.
“We want to reach out to learners to let them know that we are here for them. The wonderful thing is we have great tutors and we’re free,” she notes.
Higgins says what they do is important since New Brunswick has some of the lowest literacy rates across Canada.
“One of the learners has said that literacy is the difference between existing and living,” she added.
The Spelling Bee will be held on May 23rd at Legends Restaurant.
