The mayor of Riverview says twin 10-storey towers being proposed for the riverfront may change the look of the town but certainly not the feel of it.
Ann Seamans says she has lived in the community for a long time and understands the concerns.
But she says this development will boost the tax base and help the town hold the line on any future increases.
With 150 apartment units, she says those residents will be visiting businesses in the downtown area.
Seamans emphasizes this project will not restrict access to the riverfront or the trail.
Cordova Realty already owns the land next door to the Chocolate River Station and wants to buy the building and tear it down to build the apartment and retail complex.
The developer must still must pass a number of hurdles and the town still has to negotiate a purchase and sale agreement.
