Municipalities in Fundy Royal will be sharing more than $4 million in funding from the federal gas tax which Ottawa has doubled this year.
MP Alaina Lockhart says the parameters are flexible so municipalities can use the funding for their priorities.
“So the parameters won’t change. The funding can be used on anything clean wastewater to roads and infrastructure like that,” says Lockhart.
In total, 12 municipalities in the riding will get funding including the town of Riverview at $1.4 million.
Mayor Ann Seamans says town council will look at priorities from its ten-year plan and figure out how the money will be spent.
Quispamsis will receive $1.3 million while Hampton and Sussex will each get almost $320,000.
Salisbury, Petitcodiac, Sussex Corner and Hillsborough are among the other communities getting at least $100,000.
