There’s no word on how long detours will be in place on the Trans Canada Highway
For the second year in a row, as a result of the potential for flooding, the TCH between exit 306 at Oromocto and Exit 423 at Riverglade, has been closed.
New Brunswick’s Director of Operations for the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Ahmed Dassouki says motorists who are heading eastbound, traffic is being detoured to route 7. Westbound traffic heading towards Fredericton is being detoured to Route 1.
“We recognize that this presents a significant inconvenience for travellers and industry. It represents an additional 90 kilometres of travel each way. We have taken this step in the interest of public safety. It is impossible to say at this time, how long the detour will be in place,” Dassouki says.
