The City of Moncton wants to encourage its residents to have conversations about timely topics on a new website called LetsChatMoncton.ca
Current discussions centre around a new park at city hall plaza and changes to municipal ward boundaries.
City spokesperson Nicole Melanson says users must register on the site and create a screen name to take part.
“People tend to feel more comfortable voicing their opinion on things if they know that they are not at risk of creating conflict or disagreement with their neighbours,” she notes.
Melanson says users can basically participate anonymously but must keep any comments respectful.
While this site is mainly targeted to Moncton residents, she adds others who may work or do business in the city may also participate in discussions.
