The Town of Riverview has adopted new sign regulations.
Until recently, the town didn’t have regulations to support safety and aesthetic standards for portable signs or for newer digital signs.
Economic development director Shane Thomson says the town sought feedback from the community.
He says stakeholders felt a need to reduce the clutter and to ensure signs are designed, maintained and installed in appropriate locations.
“It had been noticed that there were a number of things that were coming up such as digital signs… the modernization of signs… that weren’t being addressed in the existing bylaw.”
Permits will now be required for all portable signs.
In addition, signs will no longer be permitted along riverfront land owned by the Town.
